Quincy's First Recital

Quincy's first dance recital was one of the cutest (and funniest!) things I have ever seen.  There were eight dance groups, each doing a dance for about 4-ish minutes.  The age group for the kids was 4 to 5 years old.  I think that probably gives you the only mental image necessary for this.  Uncle Mike and Uncle Eric went to the recital with us.  After it was over, they both made the comment that they really need to start going to these things more often, even if they don't know any of the performers, just for a good laugh.  And a good laugh is what we all got.  It was sooo sooo soooo cute!!!
We were not allowed to take any photos or video during the performance but I am going to spend a small fortune to purchase the DVD of the show.  Once I get the DVD I will upload Quincy's class performance (if I am legally allowed to...not really sure about the whole copy-right thing....).

She was thrilled with her flowers!

Ellie's last day of pre-school

Ellie's last day of pre-school was last Friday and her school had an end-of-the-year party to celebrate the occasion.  The theme was "Spread your Wings", so I made butterfly-shaped sandwiches and cookies to go along with the theme.  It was fun (I love love love being a mom!)!!!

Receiving her diploma (???) from the head of her school
(who we love).

She is just such a happy kid!

Quincy's Recital (Dress-Rehearsal)

Quincy's first ballet recital is this Saturday.  Her dress rehearsal was at the theater where the kids will perform.

She was excited and as ready as she could be.
She wore make-up (stage make-up, not applied by me!) for the first time.  She said she felt like a princess....and she kind of looked like one!

It was absolutely adorable!

Quincy's First Encounter with Firemen

We had a little scare the other day on the way to Quincy's dance recital rehearsal that led to Quincy's first encounter with a big red firetruck and six (really handsome) firemen.  The scare was bad, but sitting in the firetruck was more than good and soon made her feel better.   At least it made me feel better.

Ellie lost her first tooth!

Ellie lost her first tooth yesterday.

She placed it in a box that was tucked inside a pocket in her pillow protector.

She couldn't wait for the Tooth Fairy to visit!

In the morning when she woke up she was super excited to see that a dollar coin was left for her...but she totally wasn't super excited to have her picture taken that early.

Ellie's Last T-Ball Game

Today was Ellie's last T-Ball game of the season. It was also the last time she will get to play with the GREAT group of kids that were on both her T-Ball team and her soccer team. Next season the sports league she plays in separates the kids by gender. It's kind-of sad...the kids all get along great but the parents all get along great, too! So great that we will still socialize with a lot of the parents even though our kids will now be on different teams.  So, not too sad....
Getting her last pep-talk before her last at-bat....

Her last at-bat....and it was solid!

Her last run into home....

...And her last time being carried off the T-ball field by Dad....we're switching back to soccer next season!

And then year-round swim team in two years????
Keeping my fingers crossed....

Art

Quincy and Ellie are on an art kick. Ellie likes drawing anything, but Quincy likes telling stories...multiple page stories ...with stapled pages. Rather than let thousands of sheets of paper pieces of art collect dust sitting around the house, I have been photographing them (only just over the last year) so I can put them in photo books at the end of each year. I am thinking they will get a good laugh at these in later years....

Our Backyard "Screen on the Green"

It has been sooooo pretty out lately and we have been sooooo crazy busy (seriously, sometimes I feel like I'm going bonkers we've been sooo busy) that we took a breather on Friday night and stayed in (out?) and watched a movie in the backyard on the big inflatable movie screen.  The Movie?  Mulan (is there any movie better for a girl to watch?).

Quincy almost made it through the whole movie....almost.  She zonked out about 3/4 of the way through.  It was a good, relaxing evening to recharge us all.Posted by Picasa

It's getting close to Q's first recital.....

...and from the looks of things I'm not sure if the kids are going to be ready....but at least they'll look cute!

What does Quincy do while Ellie has T-Ball practice?

Anything that will keep her entertained.
