Ice (definitely not snow)

When we went out front we totally understood what shut the city down the night before:  The roads were solid sheets of ice---not snow.

....but this made it perfect for tobogganing down the hill!

Oh, Quincy.
*sigh*
We're very happy she didn't break a bone.

One if these days she will.

Still snow....

The morning after the storm the girls woke up, had a super quick breakfast, and then hurried outside before the snow melted.

*It didn't matter to them that it was only 18 degrees outside and the snow wasn't going anywhere for days*

Snow, Part 1

We were some of the lucky ones to make it home before the roads iced over....
....which means we could just enjoy it all
and have a TON of fun!

January, 2014

January was all over the place.
We spent some time in the pool....
(getting ready for swim season to begin!)

...went to Catch Air....
...went ice skating.....
...took both our schools to another Science Olympiad event...
(which the girls love going to because they are spoiled by sooo many awesome teenagers there)...

(Ellie loves a game of chess)
(Some of my former, current, and future students...
I love my job :)

....Ellie finally got her back-walkover down...
(at least I think that's what it's called...actually I really have no clue about any sport except swimming)....

...and we (I) purchased a tent for the girls (which they use in the upstairs loft since it's a little too cold outside to go camping right now ---it's currently snowing!).

New Year's Eve

New Year's eve was wonderfully mellow.
Uncle's Mike and Eric went with us to Aunt Cathy and Uncle Dave's where both the kids and the adults had a great time :)

We bugged out of the party early enough so we could make it home by midnight for fireworks.

Looking forward to another GREAT year!
 :)
