Mother's Day Weekend at the Lake

We spent mother's day weekend at the lake with the family and, boy, was it cold!  You will notice, however, that it didn't stop the kids from getting in the water (oddly enough none of the adults did).

Quincy loves Patrick.

This is the luckiest shot I have ever taken with my super-awesome camera!  I am pretty sure it's going to be (if it's not already) Patrick's FB picture.

When we pulled back up to the dock this is the fuzzy face that was there to greet me.  I love Otis...and I miss Cosmo :(

Have I mentioned in some earlier post on this blog what a kid-magnet Ryan is?

...as is Uncle Bill.

Swedish pancakes for breakast.  Yummmm...

Too busy! But not for long!

The girls joined swim team this year (yay!) but the practices begin at 4 until school lets out and morning practices take over.  Right now 4 pm is a great hour for the kids, but it wreaks havoc on my nerves trying to leave work at 3, pick up both girls at two different schools, get home, give the girls a snack, and make it to the pool by 4.  Everyday as I am hurrying the girls into my car to leave for practice I reach for a diet Coke in the garage fridge but my eyeballs always gaze over to the beer --- I am ever-so-tempted to grab one of those instead.  Of course I always end up grabbing a soda, but that trend will end in one week since my last day of school is THURSDAY!!!  Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And then we leave for Disney with the Schroeders on Friday!  Double yippeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Nothing New...

.
The day after Ellie's birthday party she built her Space Shuttle.  She now sleeps with it beside her bed.  :)

Quincy has discovered Physical Optics.

Ellie recieved a reading award at the end of  the year awards ceremony at her school.  We are sooooo proud of her!  .....We are also cracking up thinking of Quincy in Kindergarten next year----she'll most likely be reading the awards that are handed out!  Ellie has her first black eye in the above photo :(

Bikes...

Now that the girls are both down to two wheels we get to do sooo much more with them (athletic-wise)....

...and when we do Ellie sometimes dresses up like Super Ellie.  Love her.

Ellie is now six (!)....

...and she is sooo proud to be six!
Ellie's actual birthday fell on a school day this year so we had a small (just the four of us) celebration after school on her special day (her party was on the weekend).  We went to her favorite restaurant (Italian) for dinner and then came home and opened her gifts (puzzles and a robotic dog---below).

For her party Ellie wanted a green (???) dog cake for her birthday so of course I made it.  But...I used fondant again and that just tastes sooo icky that I made super yummy cake pops in addition...

...we are going on the 4th (!) year of (great!) use from the Big Bouncy Thing.  The girls still love it!  It was definitely one of the best purchases we have made for the girls....
Ellie wanted to wear her new "six" shirt for her party....Quincy, on the other hand, wanted to wear a "beautiful dress that twirls" (???).   The whole day she walked around holding her dress like she was Cinderella going to a ball.  She is sooo girly.

Her FAVORITE gift was from Uncle's Mike and Eric---- the Lego Space Shuttle (my dad was an engineer on the Shuttle).  Love love love her love for all things engineer-y.

When it got dark outside, the girls put their glow-stick bracelets on and went back in the Big Bouncy Thing.  Above is Tim's (fun!) photo of it.  Kind of neat, huh?

It was a great day...that ultimately ended at 11 pm.  We were all very tired the next day....so what did we do when we woke up?  We went to the Greenway and ran next to the girls as they biked the path (Tim finished his PhD comps so he was mentally "free" the WHOLE weekend---yay!!!)
